Video design created alongside Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company and the set design of Merle Hensel.
2022/2023 UK tour.
Inspired by Monteverdi’s ‘Il Combattimento’ opera this epic story of Clorinda exposes a world of violence and resilience across the boundaries of culture and time. In the first act the fiery Saracen female warrior battles the Crusader Tancredi in ancient Jerusalem. The second half brings the story up to date catapulting Clorinda into the 21st century and explores the conflicting role of women in the Middle East today.
