Project Overview

YeastCulture were commissioned to create the video design for Light Stories, a 70 minute solo performance by cellist Matthew Barley.

The content was inspired by a true story of trauma in Matthew’s life. The visuals were there to support the narration behind the musical journey, exploring difficult themes such as mental health and death but also the search for meaning in in music-making and how past wounds can heal over time.

Two screens were placed directly behind Matthew on the stage to tell the story. To make the set up tour-able and fast to set up domestic projectors were placed on the floor of the stage a few meters away from the screens.
